Intro-Hello

Journal Entry: Fri Nov 30, 2007, 2:08 PM
Hello.

My name is Michael James Parisi, aka Mazinga. After years in the video game industry making art for other people I finally started creating my own work last year. A lot has happened since then, and it seems like some people actually like what I do, so that's very inspiring! I was Erowid's featured artist in October, and got a nice write-up in Mushroom Magazine. The response was so good that I was asked to do their next cover! I'll post it when it's ready. And I just had my first big multimedia show for Nokia last month, working with live performance artists & dj's.

I make my art to be used in "blacklight" setting, raves, parties, that sort of thing. So far so good, although I'm currently looking for another printer cuz the one I was using turned out be dishonest. Most of my pieces are made using a combo of 3dsmax, carrara and Maya, & then posted in PS. I generally created at enormous rez so if you are looking for something BIG to hang, let me know :)

So, I'm wondering about this site. Is this a good place for artists to network? Do you feel like you are supported here? Ok, have a good one everybody.

Glad to have you here.

This site is very good for networking, which is one of the primary reasons I stay here. Although I have many complaints about the site as a whole, I have met some fantastic people and fantastic artists through this site.

dA is also the central hub of the fractal art community, which is my primary area of interest/expertise. I think is playing a large role in the growth of fractal art and its legitimacy as an art form.

Unfortunately, this is not the place to get critique. Almost all comments are of the "ooooh! pretty!" variety, with the occasional more in-depth praise. Constructive criticism is very hard to come by indeed, and that is my primary complaint.
